The second Hohai University Harvest Festival Harvest September, Set Sail Welcome Party
On September 22, 2020, the College of Agricultural Science and Engineering of Hohai University grandly held the second Hohai University Harvest Festival Harvest September, Set Sail online live broadcast of the Welcome Party. Alumni, parents and teachers and students watched the live broadcast through the network platform. The students from the college of Agricultural Science and Engineering, as well as some club organizations, and foreign students, jointly dedicated a wonderful audio-visual feast for everyone.
The online harvest festival welcome party is diverse and exciting. Before the official start of the event, the party played a welcome VCR warmly produced by the Student Union of the college of Agricultural Science and Engineering. Chen Jing, Dean of the college of Agricultural Science and Engineering, delivered a message enthusiastically. She pointed out that our college held the second Hohai University Harvest Festival, aiming to showcase the college’s culture, school-running characteristics and disciplinary advantages through a series of activities such as academic exchanges, labor practices, visits and performances, so as to enhance and inspire young students the mission and feelings of serving the three rural. Dean Chen Jing expressed her warmest welcome to the new students, and sincerely wishes them to ride the wind and waves in the rivers and seas, work hard, and write a wonderful chapter in life with youthful wisdom and sweat. The tutors of the freshman class and senior elder sisters also sent messages to the new students of the 2020 class, eagerly hope that every new student can set sail in Hohai University. Some new students also expressed their inner joy and excitement after joining the big family of Agricultural and Industrial College of Hohai University and shared their new university life and vision for the future with everyone.
With the lively music of ‘Hohai Lions Celebrating the Harvest’, students from the school lion dance association officially kicked off the activity with a vivid lion dance performance. The recitation program ‘A Praise for the Harvest’ vividly demonstrated the development of China's agriculture and shared the fruits and joy of the harvest. The bamboo flute song ‘Spring to the Xiangjiang River’ played by Wei Qi, the head of the National Orchestra, is turned softly, presenting a beautiful landscape painting with traditional music. The Hohai Jama Group, an international student group from Ghana, greeted the harvest festival with the most amorous traditional songs and dances, and also offered friendly blessings to the new class of 2020. New students also use their programs to convey the joy of harvest and yearning for the future college career. Grade 20 undergraduate freshman Xiao Danyang and postgraduate freshman Zu Jiayi sang popular songs ‘Look at the Moon Climbing’ and ‘Warm Nuan’ respectively. Nanqiang Beidiao Xiangsheng Club brought us a crosstalk performance ‘Playing Chess’, which is both elegant and popular. Undergraduate freshman Li Yichen performed a solo Poem of Wind fingerstyle, and the melodious piano sound dripped little by little, nourishing the hearts of the students. The recitation program ‘Songsong Harvest Festival’ praised every hard-working agricultural worker with the fullest enthusiasm and expressed the most heartfelt holiday blessings.
In addition, traditional programs with unique styles also attract attention. The drum melody ‘Attack on Glory’ brought by Tian Jingchen, principal of the orchestra, is full of vitality. It combines traditional musical instruments with modern music and pushes the atmosphere to a climax. The ‘Twelve Winds and Huajian’ brought by the Traditional Art Cultural and Creative Society uses the most ancient style of dance and singing to show the breadth and depth of Chinese history and culture. Finally, the party ended in the moving dance ‘Walking in the Mountains and Rivers’ by the University Dance Group. The graceful dance conveyed the joy of harvest and best wishes to new students.
On the occasion of celebrating a good harvest, we welcome the new students from Hohai to join us. The new students of the School of Agricultural Science and Engineering will remember the Hohai spirit of ‘I drink a drop of water from the river and the sea, and I will dedicate my life to the motherland’, hear the voice of ideals at Hohai University, see the light of the future, and set sail with dreams.
Since 2018, my country has established the annual lunar calendar autumn equinox as the ‘Chinese Farmers’ ‘Harvest Festival’, which is the first national festival specifically for farmers. The Harvest Festival is a festival for hundreds of millions of farmers to celebrate and enjoy a good harvest.
