On July 18, the water level at Nanjing Station on the Yangtze River rose to 10.26 meters, surpassing the historical high of 10.22 meters in 1954. Two students, Bi bo and Xi Haoqiang, saw in the news reports that young soldiers born in the 90s and 00s were charging and fighting on the front line of flood fighting, and wanted to contribute to flood prevention and flood fighting. In early August, the two students participated in the volunteer service activities for flood prevention and embankment inspections of the Shuiximen section of the Qinhuai River organized by the Shuiximen Community Residents Committee, Mochouhu Street, Jianye District, Nanjing City.
At present, the water level of the Outer Qinhuai River is slowly falling, but because the embankment is soaked at high water level for a long time, the soil is wet, the stability is poor, and the shear resistance of the embankment body is low, there is still the possibility of danger. Under the leadership of the staff of the flood control emergency team of Shuiximen Community, the two students carried out flood control and flood protection safety inspections on the Qinhuai River embankment, and carefully checked whether there were cracks, collapses, or collapses in the water-facing slope, the top of the embankment, the back slope, and the foot of the embankment. Dangerous phenomena such as collapse, swelling, falling off slopes, dampness, water seepage, loopholes, sand turning, etc., and pay attention to observe whether there are small swirling nests or current changes on the water surface near the dike. In the flood prevention and flood fighting work of urban rivers, community workers and urban management personnel set up a cordon along the outer Qinhuai River, and erected warning signs of ‘water level rise, pay attention to safety’ on the sidewalk on the top of the embankment, but there are still citizens The masses are fishing and fishing near the waters. When encountering such dangerous behaviors, the two classmates stepped forward to persuade and guide them, and introduced the necessity of flood prevention and safety precaution from the perspective of their majors.
