Introduction to Agricultural Water-saving

The Institute of Agricultural Water Conservation began in 1952 with the major of soil water conservancy improvement in Hohai University.The institute has 8 in-service researchers, including 3 professors and 3 associate professors. There are 8 doctors (the latter) among the scientific researchers, accounting for 100% of the total number of disciplines. Their specialties involve agricultural water and soil engineering, water conservancy and hydropower, horticulture and other majors. The main research fields are the theory of efficient water use for crops, the theory and technology of sustainable irrigation and drainage, and agricultural water-saving irrigation equipment. The supporting platforms include the Key Laboratory of Efficient Irrigation and Drainage and Agriculture, Soil and Water Environment of The Ministry of Education in South China, the State Key Laboratory of Hydrology, Water Resources and Water Conservancy Engineering Science, the National Engineering Research Center of Efficient Utilization of Water Resources and Engineering Safety, the Experimental Base of Jiangsu Provincial Irrigation Experimental Center Station, and Jiangning Water-saving Park of the Ministry of Water Resources, etc.It also has field test bases in Lianshui, Kunshan, Gaoyou, Sheyang and Dongtai.

The research institute mainly studies crop irrigation and drainage theory and its ecological and environmental effects.The proposed "rice control technology", "rice rain storage and control irrigation technology" and "ditch and field coordination control irrigation and drainage technology" have been widely used in China and other countries such as Vietnam, Tanzania and so on. In the past five years, it has won one national first prize in science and technology, and five other provincial and ministerial prizes, such as Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Award, Jiangsu Provincial Agricultural Technology Promotion Award, and Agricultural Water-saving Award.Published more than 80 papers, participated in the preparation of 3 specifications;He has presided over more than 50 national natural Science funds, national key research and development projects and other scientific research projects.
